Rural Tourism Relating to Weather, Alternative Destination and Safety
With Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN)
Rural tourism in Nepal offers unique and inspiring experiences, where we deeply experience the nature, culture, people and environment. We can explore untouched beauty, rural lifestyle and are delighted by the eye-chanting scenarios of rural areas. (http://tourisminnepal.org/rural-tourism-in-nepal) Due to the lack of study and negligence related to weather, the expectation doesn’t meet the reality in case of rural tourism in Nepal.
Background
Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) is an umbrella association of trekking agencies in the country. It was established in 1979 by a handful of trekking agency operators who felt it was time to devise sound business principles as well as regulate the sector which was growing by leaps and bounds with every passing year. TAAN wants to present this Rural Tourism Challenge for innovation training.
The weather appears to influence human behaviour in various ways and at different levels, ranging from a simple decision concerning what clothes to wear depending on the expectation of rain/snow to reactions to unusual and severe weather events, such as floods, landslides, etc. So, it is necessary to know the condition of the weather before travelling anywhere. Around 1.5 million tourists visit in Nepal every year and most of the tourists are unaware of the weather of that predestined area due to the lack of proper weather forecasting devices. As a result, their plan goes in vain which affects adversely on the safety of the tourists as well as the most common problem is a homestay.
The main reason behind such issues is due to lack of weather forecasting stations in trekking route and also due to lack of technology in managing rural tourism. TAAN is trying seeking for the revolutionary solution of such problems which will promote the Nepali tourism industry and develop tourism as a revenue-generating industry.
